Come racconta lo stesso Kareem sul suo account Instagram, lui è stato il più piccolo ambasciatore dei bambini palestinesi alle Nazioni Unite, nel 2020.
Nel 2022, si è diplomato con voti altissimi. E, successivamente, ha iniziato a studiare medicina, completando il primo anno, sempre con voti alti.
Ma nell’ottobre 2023, ha perso tutto.
L’università in cui studiava è stata distrutta, così come l’azienda che, come lui stesso racconta, rappresentava l’unica fonte di reddito per la sua intera famiglia.
Eppure, a più di un anno di distanza da quel terribile 7 Ottobre 2023, Kareem ha ancora parole di speranza e di luce:
“Abbiamo ancora una speranza di ricostruire tutto e tornare ai nostri sogni”, scrive.
E, ancora, continua: “Quindi, per favore, se pensi che meritiamo la vita, condividi la nostra voce col Mondo e seguimi”.
“Ho ancora un po’ di speranza, sto continuando a studiare, perché la mia famiglia e il mio paese hanno bisogno di me. Continuo a dire a mio padre che ricostruiremo tutto. Ma sopravviveremo ancora?”
Kareem è un ragazzo come tanti. Un ragazzo che stava trovando la sua strada nel mondo, con impegno e dedizione, pieno di sogni, aspettative e con un futuro brillante davanti a sé.
Il futuro gli è stato strappato, così come qualunque altra certezza.
È ancora vivo, ma non sa per quanto tempo ancora e, probabilmente, avrà la percezione che a nessuno nel Mondo interessi di lui e dei suoi cari.
Non è così.
Per questo dobbiamo continuare a raccontare la sua storia e quella di tutti i bambini e ragazzi come lui e delle loro famiglie!

As Kareem himself tells on his Instagram account, he was the youngest ambassador of Palestinian children to the United Nations, in 2020.
In 2022, he graduated with top marks. And, subsequently, he began studying medicine, completing the first year, always with top marks.
But in October 2023, he lost everything.
The university where he studied was destroyed, as well as the company that, as he himself says, represented the only source of income for his entire family.
And yet, more than a year after that terrible October 7, 2023, Kareem still has words of hope and light:
“We still have a hope to rebuild everything and back to our dreams,” he writes.
And, again, he continues: “So, please, if you think we deserve life, share our voice to the World and follow me”.
“I still have a little bit of hope, I’m still studying, because my family and my country need me. I still tell my father we will rebuild everything. But will we still survive again?”
Kareem is a boy like many others. A boy who was finding his way in the world, with commitment and dedication, a guy full of dreams, expectations and with a bright future ahead of him.
His future was taken away from him, as well as any other certainty.
He is still alive, but he doesn’t know for how much longer and, probably, he will have the perception that no one in the world cares about him and his loved ones.
It is not like that.
This is why we must continue to tell his story and the stories of all the children and young people like him and their families!
They deserve life and we cares about them!
