Reema ha 13 anni e una dote incantevole.
La sento suonare, per la prima volta, in un vecchio video del 2020, quando di anni ne aveva 8.
Nel video, eseguiva “Bella ciao” con il qanun, accompagnata dal padre con l’oud.
Qanun e Oud sono due strumenti cordofoni della tradizione araba e il risultato di questo mix di tradizioni arabe e italiane è davvero emozionante.
Tre anni dopo questo video, Reema e la sua famiglia si sono ritrovati al centro di una guerra che ha sconvolto totalmente le loro esistenze, eppure hanno continuato a diffondere bellezza attraverso la loro arte: la musica.
Sull’account Instagram del papà di Reema compaiono testimonianze dell’aiuto concreto e del sollievo che ha portato ai bambini di Gaza, attraverso la musica.
Untoldpalestine, attraverso un post condiviso anche sull’account dell’uomo, scrive:
“Mohammed al-Habash, insegnante oud e supervisore accademico, porta speranza nei cuori dei bambini di Gaza attraverso le sue melodie in mezzo alla guerra.”
Oggi, Reema e la sua famiglia sono lontani da Gaza. Sono stati costretti ad abbandonare tutto e tutti, per cercare sicurezza.
Ma la loro mente e il loro cuore sono rimasti in quella che è ed è sempre stata casa loro. E su Instagram, hanno anche pubblicato una canzone sui bambini di Gaza.
Mohammed al-Habash mi scrive parole di speranza e di pace, che voglio condividere:
“I nostri bambini e ragazzi sono come i bambini e i ragazzi di tutto il mondo. Hanno speranze, ambizioni e obiettivi che vogliono veramente raggiungere. Alla luce di questa ingiustizia a cui sono sottoposti, non solo viene loro negata la realizzazione dei loro sogni, ma anche i più basilari diritti umani, come cibo, bevande e un sonno sicuro. Questo si aggiunge all’uccisione, alla tortura e alla perdita dei loro cari.“
“Spero che questa guerra ingiusta finisca e che la pace torni nel mio amato paese, Gaza, che ho lasciato contro la mia volontà. Spero che la mia famiglia, i miei amici e tutta la gente di Gaza possano godere di sicurezza, pace e una vita felice.”

Reema is 13 years old and has an enchanting talent.
I heard her play for the first time in an old video from 2020, when she was 8 years old.
In the video, she performed Bella Ciao on the qanun, accompanied by her father on the oud.
The qanun and the oud are two stringed instruments from the Arab tradition, and the result of this blend of Arab and Italian traditions is truly moving.
Three years after this video, Reema and her family found themselves in the midst of a war that completely upended their lives. Yet, they continued to spread beauty through their art: music.
On Reema’s father’s Instagram account, there are testimonies of the concrete help and relief she brought to the children of Gaza through music.

Today, Reema and her family are far from Gaza. They were forced to leave everything and everyone behind in search of safety.
However, their minds and hearts remained in what is and has always been their home. And on Instagram, they also posted a song about the children of Gaza.
Mohammed al-Habash writes to me with words of hope and peace, which I want to share:
“Our children and youth are like children and youth all over the world. They have hopes, ambitions, and goals that they truly want to achieve. In light of this injustice to which they are subjected, they are not only denied the fulfillment of their dreams, but also the most basic human rights, such as food, drink, and safe sleep. “I hope that this unjust war will end and that peace will return to my beloved country, Gaza, which I left against my will. I hope that my family, friends, and all the people of Gaza will enjoy security, peace, and a happy life.“
